Our Receptionists are the first point of contact for those coming to Richard House or getting in touch with us.  We are looking for additional volunteers to help run reception and be central to the Richard House experience.  Duties include:

  • Answering phone calls from parents, carers, social workers, health care professionals, Richard House supporters, cold callers and suppliers.
  • Meeting and greeting all visitors to the Hospice and offering refreshments where needed.
  • Dealing with all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Assisting the Fundraising team by counting money that has been raised at various events.
  • Accepting and recording all donations.
  • Various other administrative duties.

What skills do we need?

We are looking for people who are friendly and polite, with a good telephone manner.  You should be reliable and attentive and be able to work as part of a team.  A willingness to help is essential, as is understanding the requirements of confidentiality when working in a care setting.  Basic administrative and IT skills will be an advantage.

How much time will it take?

Reception runs on half day shifts Monday to Friday.  Morning shifts ideally start at 0830 (although can start anywhere up to 0930) and finish at 1300.  Afternoon shifts are 1300-1630.  We ask for a minimum commitment of one shift a week, although if you would like to do multiple shifts that’s great.
