This month we held our very first football tournament fundraiser, The Richard House Cup!

We welcomed teams made up of employees from some of our fantastic corporate partners to compete to be crowned the first ever Richard House Cup Winners. We wanted to create this event to help our corporate partners, and ourselves as a hospice, to return to events focus on collaboration and seeing each other face to face. We wanted to begin rebuilding those social connections between our corporate partners and the hospice that had been so sorely missed during the pandemic.

The tournament was competed by teams representing Compre Group, Polyteck Building Services, Johns & Co, Allianz and Principle Cleaning Services.

It was a very warm and bright day so it was brilliant to see all of the teams competing fiercely.

However, the teams all represented their companies fantastically and cultivated a very friendly and collaborative environment, which we had hoped would be the case! After around 4 hours of football, the two teams that had accumulated the most points were Johns & Co and Allianz and consequently they would be our two finalists.

The final was incredibly close and there was an excellent level of football being played out. The match finished 6-5 to Allianz who narrowly but deservedly were crowned the champions of the inaugural Richard House Cup!

Through the team’s entry donations, the tournament raised £1,020 for Richard House which is a fantastic amount and will make such a difference in the lives of our children and families. That £1,020 could pay for around 20 hours of our Hospice at Home service where we send our nurses out to care for our children in the comfort of their own home.
