Support your local hospice, through learning!

Have you got the creativity and business sense to rise to the challenge?

This Apprentice-style challenge is an opportunity for young people to successfully complete a business based project within a fun and dynamic environment.

The project can be completed in one day in a competitive environment using teams of young people to challenge one another, or can be undertaken by individuals or small groups over a period of time. This makes it flexible for both students and teachers to utilise within their specific environment.

Richard House is London’s first children’s hospice, and relies on charitable donations to run therefore, this project will be based on raising funds for the hospice.

The school would invest £100 in the winning Fundraising initiative. The students would then have the challenge of turning that into £1000. The school would get back the initial invested amount, and the Hospice would receive £900.

The essence of the project is for students to create a fundraising dynamic initiative that is to be developed using business skills and business thinking. It encourages the creation of new ideas and structures whilst making good use of process and project management.

In addition to these essential business skills, knowledge of the fundraising strategy of Richard House will be gained as well as an in-depth appreciation of the work undertaken by the hospice and the impacts that it has upon the community.

This challenge can form either the culmination of study undertaken by students within the curriculum subjects of Work Related Learning, Citizenship, PSHE/PSD or may form part of the undertaking of Duke of Edinburgh, Baccalaureate or Business Enterprise.Equally, it may simply be a stand alone personal development project.
