Richard House Children's Hospice shop in Barking, east London

There are more than 90 volunteers who work in Richard House Children's Hospice charity shops and they come from all walks of life.

Aged 16+ there are both male and female volunteers. Some of them work for a couple of hours a week and others for a couple of days. Without them we couldn't care for the hundreds of children, young people and their families like we do.

Could you spare a couple of hours a week to work in one of our charity shops? There is a lot to do and no day will ever be the same! We need people to:

  • Sort and price goods
  • Organise the displays
  • Help to sell clothes, toys, books, music and bric-a-brac
  • Work on the tills
  • Assist customers

This is the ideal experience in a retail environment for volunteers who are looking for preparation for the world of work - it is also an interesting, sociable and worthwhile activity.

You can decide how much time you can spare so that working in one of our great shops doesn't interfere with other commitments and you can try it for a day to see if you like it first.

For more details about this role you can download the role outline, then why not pop into one of the shops and introduce yourself. If you say you are interested in volunteering you will get a very warm welcome!

To find out where are shops are based please go to our charity shops page.
