Working For Us

A Richard House cookery session

Richard House is a fun place to work with a fantastic team atmosphere and a home from home environment.

People are one of our greatest assets. We believe that the successful recruitment and retention of staff is vital to our continuing success.

Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • Competitive salaries
  • 27 days holiday for full time employees plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time staff)
  • Stakeholder pension scheme with employer contributions (or the option to stay in the NHS pension scheme for care staff)
  • Flexi time (unless your contract specifies times of attendance)
  • Employee assistance programme – a 24 hour helpline for you and your family members offering expert advice, invaluable information, specialist counselling and support to help with life’s daily challenges
  • We are close to Canary Wharf, the DLR and London City Airport and within easy reach of the north circular and A13 with plentiful secure free parking
  • Staff canteen offering freshly cooked main meals, sandwiches, soups and snacks at reasonable prices. You’ll need to order early for the popular fish pie on a Friday!
  • We have recently started a staff well being programme and activities have included a ‘stress down’ day with yoga and reiki and a regular running club for staff. The activities we have planned for the summer include a rounders tournament and badminton

Training and Support

Wherever you work in the hospice, you can be sure that your development will be taken seriously. Training needs are regularly assessed and an environment of learning and sharing of knowledge is encouraged. We recognise the value of support within an environment such as ours. Staff are supported through formal supervision and appraisals systems. In addition, care staff receive clinical supervision as a team from an external facilitator.

Equal Opportunities

Richard House is committed to equality of opportunity to employment, transfer and promotion regardless of race, gender, religion, nationality, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.

Positive about Disabled People

disability symbolRichard House is committed to the employment and career development of people with disabilities. To demonstrate our commitment we use the disability symbol, which is awarded by JobCentre Plus as we have agreed to take action to meet five commitments regarding the employment, training and career development of people with disabilities. As a symbol user, we guarantee an interview to anyone with a disability whose application meets all the essential criteria for the post.

We regularly review our work policies to ensure they reflect the changing lifestyle patterns of our staff with either family or other commitments. For most care positions, we can offer full time, part time or bank work.

A police check under the disclosure process is required for all positions at Richard House, which we will carry out on your behalf.
