Companies' Winning Fundraisers

Corporate Supporters of Richard House Children’s Hospice have been enjoying a quizzical season in aid of the charity.

The winning team from Taylor Woodrow celebrate their win

Law and insurance firms involved in the London Markets staged their annual rock music quiz on 13 March entitled ‘Se7en Deadly Riffs’. Richard House was delighted to have been nominated as one of the beneficiary charities for this City-based event which raised over £5,000 for the hospice.

On the same day Weil, Gotshal and Manges also put their thinking caps on. Their annual quiz at the City Boot, Moorgate raised a wonderful £5,000.

The turnout was large and the atmosphere fantastic, if highly competitive!

KPMG in Canary Wharf raised over £2,200 at the beginning of April with a popular company quiz held at the local Marriot Hotel. The financial firm has chosen Richard House as its Charity of the Year for the second time in 2008.

Finally Taylor Woodrow Construction Limited raised around £700 from a quiz at Via Fossa in West India Quay on 9 April. The event was very popular with 19 teams competing from the company and their contractors, as well as Serco and the DLR.

The winning team were called Bad Piles and Excessive Wind, a reference to the new station at South Quay where the winds are strong and the cement piles difficult to put in.

Taylor Woodrow won the chance to have artist Jelena Markovic paint a subject of their choice at the Richard House Ball in November 2007. Jonathan Fox, Director of the DLR, unveiled the impressive result before the quiz.

Richard House Corporate Partnerships Manager Alex Speke said: “It has been a fantastic month for brain-busting fundraisers.

“Richard House is extremely grateful for the continuing support of these firms and these events show how much fun fundraising within your company can be.”
