Lifelites' Hi-tech Gift

Charity donates £40,000 package and services to Richard House.

The unveiling of the new computersLifelites - the charity that provides high-tech equipment for children with life-limiting illnesses - has donated £40,000 of the latest home technologies to Richard House, thanks to the generosity of Lehman Brothers European Foundation and The Mercers’ Livery Company.

Children and their families can play on new Xbox 360 consoles and other high-tech games equipment, plus wide-screen Sky TV’s will give them the chance to enjoy their favourite programmes together.

All of the computer equipment comes with special adaptations to enable the children to continue their studies and communicate with their friends and teachers; and new digital cameras also help to make a lasting record of the special time the family spend together at the hospice.

The equipment will compliment the home-from-home atmosphere the hospice creates. Lifelites have also supplied all of the telecoms and Sky connections free of charge and will maintain the equipment along the way.

Simone Enefer-Doy of Lifelites said: “We are delighted to have been able to supply this equipment for the children and their families who use Richard House.

“It’s great for them to have these tools at their figure tips for playing, learning and communicating with friends. We hope this equipment will bring a ray of sunshine into their lives.

Richard House Chief Executive Peter Ellis said: “Richard House is indebted to Lifelites for providing this equipment which complements and enhances the services provided by Richard House.

“Life-limited and life-threatened children want to be using the same technology and experiencing the same things as ordinary young people and this equipment is an important step towards them achieving this.”
