Student placements

We offer student placements to a variety of students studying different courses

Joe Cole and a student nurseThe majority of our students are student nurses from either City or Southbank University who are placed to work with our care team on a regular basis.

We also accept requests (where possible) from students studying courses such as medicine, psychology or social work.

Unfortunately we are sometimes unable to accommodate students who require a long-term placement (over 6 weeks) due to our contractual obligations with other Universities. We are also unable to offer work experience placements for students at school or sixth form or anyone under the age of 18 years of age.

What we can offer you:

Supernumery status for the duration of your placement

Daily allocation of a mentor

Student induction pack sent out 2 weeks prior to your placement

Access to our family support worker for support services

Opportunity to work with our children, young people and their families and to learn more about their conditions, daily life and the problems they face

Access to journals and books in our resource room.

If you are interested in undertaking our placement with our care team then please contact Jo Littleson, Practice Development Facilitator at jog@richardhouse.org.uk or telephone 0207 540 0236. Jo deals with all care team student requests and will be able to tell you if your request can be honoured. Please include the following information with your request;

  • Your full name
  • Your course of study and your year of study
  • The name of your University/ College
  • Dates of when you would like to do your placement – please also inform Jo if there is any flexibility with your dates
  • The total number of hours you need to work
  • The total number of days you wish to work
  • Details of any course outcomes you wish to achieve whilst with us

Jo will then contact you to let you know if we can honour your request. If successful, we will require the following from you;

  • a letter from your course tutor or placements officer confirming who you are, your course of study, your year intake and the dates of your placement
